Thermal & Acoustic Insulation System with Aesthetic Appeal for Domestic, Industrial and Commercial Applications
GENERAL INFORMATION
Isodan Sprayfibre is a blend of specially treated cellulose fibres and a special binding agent which mixes the cellulose fibres during the application process and reacts with them to form a durable blanket-like layer of insulation which is applied at the requisite thickness to the soffits of roofs and vertical surfaces of walls. In general it can be applied to any type of surface providing the necessary preparation work is carried out before the application commences.
APPLICATIONS Isodan Sprayfibre is an ideal medium for treatment of either new or existing buildings and will provide effective Thermal Insulation, Condensation Control, Sound Absorption and Acoustic Correction.
It is a quick and relatively inexpensive method for insulation of factories, warehouses and stores with single skin metal sheeting. It provides a continuous insulation layer without the cold bridges found with conventional insulation systems.
DESCRIPTION Isodan Sprayfibre is manufactured be processing natural fibres with specially selected chemicals to add fire, mould and vermin resistance and the result blend is a non-abrasive, low density fibrous material which not only traps air between the fibres but also contains minute cells of air in the fibres themselves resulting in very good insulating properties.
The binder is water based and is sprayed simultaneously with the fibre through a specially designed gun. The ratio of binder to fibre is controlled by the operator during the application process to ensure a complete monolithic coating.
DENSITY The density of the material, when fully cured is 77 kg/m3.
APPEARANCE The texture is blanket like and is resistant to mild indentations and scuffing. The standard colour i high white and produces an attractive light surface.
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES A load of up to 22 kg can be sustained without a permanent indentation. The surface is robust and will withstand mild scuffing, but it should be protected in areas of high traffic.
FIRE Isodan Sprayfibre has been tested and classified P (not easily ignitable) to B5476 Part 5, 1968. It has a class 1 Surface Spread of Flame rating to B5476 Part 7, 1971 and provides a Class 0 surface as defined in the 1976 Building Regulation.
ENVIRONMENT The application is a non-toxic and the material when cured is odourless and non pollutant and is resistant to mould, mildew and vermin.
CLEANING Care should be taken when cleaning the surface and dust can be cleaned off using a soft brush. It can be decorated and we would recommend the use of a sand based paint.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION A. Isodan Sprayfibre is compatible with all other commonly encountered building materials and will adhere direct to these.
B. Isodan Sprayfibre has been tested and has a Thermal conductive (l) value of 0.038 W/mK. This means that by applying a 25 mm thickness of Isodan Sprayfibre to the following surfaces heat lass figures can be reduced as indicated:
- Single Skin Corrugated Metal Roof - 80%
- Single Skin Corrugated A.C. Roof - 78%
- 225 mm Thick Brick Wall - 60%
- 100 mm Thick Concrete Slab + Screed + Bitumen Felt - 67%
LIMITATIONS - Isodan Sprayfibre should not be exposed to prolonged periods of heat over 140oC or should not be placed in close proximity to flue pipes, recessed light fittings or other sources of heat.
- Applications under freezing conditions should be avoided. However, once applied it is unaffected by frost or cold.
- A suitable protective coating should be oversprayed where the insulation is liable to exposure to extreme humidity or weather conditions.
AVAILABILITY Isodan Sprayfibre is applied be licensed installers. Contact the manufacturer 'Isodan Ireland Ltd' for details.
